Vulcan Forge & Knife Co. was founded in 2021 by Master Bladesmith, Paul Inman. Paul is a veteran and has been a knifemaker for over 45 years. He learned his trade directly from Bill Moran, one of the founders of the Amercian Bladesmith Society. He also trained under Roderick Chappel, a knifemaker and master of abrasives.
Paul previously owned an iron working business in Alaska and Colorado called Iron Rose Forge which produced incredibly intricate decorative ironwork. He then moved to Seattle and founded Vulcan Knife LLC. Vulcan Knife later relocated to Tacoma and was sold in 2020.
Paul has finally set his roots in Idaho. He is absolutely thrilled that the doors of Vulcan Forge & Knife Co. are now open for business and to call the beautiful city of Lewiston his new home.
In addition to starting this new business, Paul has also founded the Idaho School of Bladesmithing and Knifemaking. He will offer individual and group classes in knifemaking at his home teaching facility. There he will teach students the Moran knifemaking lineage through a two-day basic course where they will learn how to forge a knife “into the black”. Students can further their instruction and take the full knifemaking course. In this course they will learn additional forging and grinding techniques and bring their knife to completion.
